ABOUT SKETCHBATTLE
FOUNDER'S STORY
Brook Banham, the mastermind behind Sketchbattle, had a bold vision. While pursuing his Masters degree at College for Creative Studies, Detroit, he wanted to break free from the traditional design mold. His passion for creativity and artistic exchange sparked an idea that would revolutionize the idea of a design competition.
Brook’s design journey took flight in the 90s U.K., where the sounds of techno and house revolutionized culture. This movement inspired his work with newfound energy and a fresh perspective. Sketchbattle captures that same electric spirit from back in the day and embraces the fusion of design and technology.
Sketchbattle burst onto the scene with an unforgettable launch party for Middlecott Design, honoring Detroit’s heritage, celebrating its legendary car culture, and paying homage to its status as a haven for techno and early rave culture in underground venues.
Sketchbattle goes beyond the surface and shatters the secrecy of traditional professional design processes, inviting designers from all backgrounds and levels to showcase their skills and engage in friendly rivalry. Plus, it allows audiences to become live participants in the thrilling time-sensitive competition. The battle for innovation takes center stage, revealing the dynamic journey behind the automotive design.
Sketchbattle is a gathering event for trailblazers where creativity knows no bounds. It breaks down barriers, empowers emerging artists, and fosters collaboration. It celebrates individuality, inclusivity, and the raw power of artistic expression through intense competition.
